How we get bent on Monday nights

by Edda Hamar on March 10, 2011

We got bent at work.

Cash Doctors organised for a yoga instructor to come to the office on Monday night.

We cleared the room, moved the ping pong table to the side and lay down a bunch of mats.

Mine was purple.

I’m not much of a yoga champion but I gave it a go.

Boy, oh boy.

Failure 1: Incorrect choice of clothing
Severe lack of material in my shorts – may as well have just worn underpants. My top was too loose and fell over my eyes whenever I did anything upside-down – which was most of the time. With my hair constantly falling into my face, I achieved an overall look of ‘awkward’.

Failure 2: Breathing
“Today is just about breathing correctly, in, out, in, out”, says the instructor. My breathing was more of an in, in, out, in, out, out, out, in, stop breathing altogether…then in a bit. Balancing in a downward dog with my right foot flailing somewhere above my head made it a very difficult time to be thinking about breathing.

Winner: Sore the next day
Although I consider my first class a collection of uncoordinated, awkward moments – I was sore the next day. I’m pretty sure that’s a positive sign.

Success!

Here are some pictures I took of the team…

The “upward facing dog”

The “downward dog with right leg in the air”

Relaxing after the session

Sometimes we fail a bit in life – balancing in yoga, wearing the right clothing or even keeping our finances in order.

But I guess that’s fine.

Even though I had to ask for help when my arms were tangled and my feet were facing the wrong way.
Next week I may not need the wall for stability!

Zen out.

Hiya,

Wow you look after you’re employee’s, if you ever open a office in Western Australia I’m you’re man.
You have my details and I’m just a call away, call me?

Oh who moved to office furniture to one side of the room, that would have been a workout on its own.

Regards

Robert

Hey Robert,

You’re right – it’s a lot of fun at Cash Doctors HQ!

We probably won’t be making the move over to WA anytime soon but if you we do – we’ll call you!

Invite you over for a yoga class?

Cheers, Edda
