Beware the cost of love.
It’s easy to get carried away when you’re buying a Valentine’s Day gift. If you’re anything like me, you’ll want to buy your loved one the world…the stars…the universe.
It’s called impulse buying, driven by the most amazing emotion on earth.
So here’s how to survive Valentine’s Day if you’re crazy in love but your wallet is sadly out of cash.
These Valentines gift ideas mean you can still spend the day rich in love without spending much at all.
Here goes…
- Make a Valentine’s Day video professing your love and publish it on youtube for all the world to see. Read a poem, dance or sing out loud that you love them to the end of the universe and back…ahhhh
- Grab a bag of concrete from Bunnings (how romantic!) and make a heart-shaped paver in your garden and engrave their initials in it. (And I don’t just mean the males reading this.)
- Wake before your loved one and prepare a five star breakfast with all the trimmings. Have the newspaper at the ready highlighting the classified section where you’ve organised your own personalised “I love you” note. Awwwwww. The perfect way to start Valentines Day.
- Pack a picnic and take them on a mystery tour. Try the beach, botanical gardens, a park or drive to a rainforest that’s filled with hidden, out of the way bush tracks and waterfalls.
- Into feisty, challenging love? Get the love boiling over with a little bit of competition. Challenge them to a bit of tennis, do them over with paint balls in skirmish, go to time zone, ten-pin bowling or have a water bomb fight. At the end give them a medal saying “You win…and you’ve won me”…ahhhhhh.
- Take your love to new heights and go on a mystery flight. Check this website out here. http://www.mysteryflights.com.au
So there you have it. Some Valentine’s Day gift ideas that won’t split the piggy bank with cupid’s arrow. But if they’re STILL not special enough and you really do want to buy your Valentine the stars, you can… Check this out…

Better go. I’ve got to get that concrete from Bunnings sorted…
